Tchoukball Danmark

Who is Tchoukball Danmark?

Tchoukball Denmark (TBDK) is Denmark’s top governing body for the growing sport of tchoukball. It is a national organization with two main goals:

  • To spread and promote the sport of tchoukball in Denmark

  • To strengthen Denmark’s position in the international tchoukball community through participation in international tournaments

To promote the sport in Denmark, TBDK regularly holds events and open training sessions in Aarhus, where the headquarters is located.

Although headquartered in Aarhus, TBDK has members across Denmark. The ambition is to expand the sport and establish local roots in multiple cities, with the ultimate goal of creating a national league. People from outside Aarhus are also welcome to get in touch.

In addition to domestic events, TBDK facilitates participation in international tournaments as part of the national team. This provides not only incredible experiences but also critical international match experience for Danish tchoukball players, helping to raise the overall level of play. It also creates unique opportunities to benefit from contacts and experience within the international tchoukball community.

Tchoukball Denmark collaborates with several national federations, including Tchoukball UK and Tchoukball Switzerland, as well as the European federation (ETBF) and the global federation (FITB).

I love the pace of tchoukball. You are constantly moving, looking for the perfect shot or transitioning between defensive positions. Time simply flies.

Our History

In a country where handball is so popular, it is somewhat paradoxical that Tchoukball Denmark was born out of a football club. TBDK began as an alternative warm-up exercise in a football club in Aarhus and eventually grew larger than the football team. As the focus shifted to tchoukball, the number of players increased. More and more people wanted to play this unusual, exotic sport. With a newfound passion came a new question: who could we play against?

The answer was clear but disappointing: nobody. There was no one to compete against in Denmark.

After researching archives and social media, it became clear that although several people had previously tried to introduce the sport in Denmark, it had never fully taken root. This realization led to extensive organizational work, which culminated in the summer of 2025 with the founding of Tchoukball Denmark—a national federation for all Danish tchoukball players, providing opportunities to play both domestically and internationally.

Today, TBDK has players from across the country and serves as Denmark’s official representative on the European and global stage. The national team’s coaching staff are all certified tchoukball coaches through the English federation, and Tchoukball Denmark is preparing for the European Championships in 2026 in Switzerland.

Tchoukball challenges you in the right way. You need both technique and sharpness to succeed. You only become really good when you know your teammates, their movements, and their thinking. That is also when the game becomes truly fun.
